Peach rings are one of the most popular kick sugar candies, this is because they are sweet and tangy. These rings, when made need to contain added sugar and alcoholic sugar. Peach rings can be made into different flavors. These rings are made from the following ingredients:

Modified food starch (potatoes), corn syrup, fumaric acid, modified food starch (corn), tataric acid, yellow 5, artificial and natural flavors, gelatin, citric acid, sodium citrate, apple juice from concentrate.

These rings originated in Germany in 1922 by Haribo.

Do it yourself (DIY) peach rings are preferred by the majority of people because, unlike the rings that are produced majorly for commercial purposes which mostly use artificial flavors, peach rings that are made at home are for consumption and natural flavors are majorly used and this gives the rings a different taste compared to those with artificial flavors.

Although home made rings have a unique taste, one should not forget that the process can be very tedious. The process can be made less tedious if the peaches are canned.

Step by step guide

1. Firstly, your peaches were not canned, so you will have to prepare the peaches for canning. This is done by boiling the peach in hot water for like 30 seconds. After that, you remove the peach from the boiling water and put it on ice for it to cool off, and after that, you peal the peach skin with a pairing knife or your hands. If the peach skin refuses to peal, boil it again and then cool it off.

2. Secondly, after the peach skin has been peeled off, you pit the peaches by cutting them in half and removing the pit. Then you add the peach halves to a blender. Then use a larger strainer to collect any remaining chunks.

3. Thirdly, add the peaches to a saucepan and bring them to a simmer. Once you start simmering, add the mixture of pectin and sugar. After adding it, stir it well until the sugar blends evenly.

4. Fourthly, boil the mixture, and once it starts boiling, add the light corn syrup. After adding the light corn syrup, you need to get this mixture up to 230 degrees in order to obtain the proper gummy texture. This will take about a half hour of stirring. As soon as the mixture reaches 230 degrees, add the lemon juice and stir well.

5. Lastly, pour it into your cooling dish and let it cool at room temperature for 4 hours. When it cools off, you cut it into your desired shape, and the best way to cut it is to use a bottle lid, the one without the nipple, to cut out your peach ring, and after that, you fill it with sugar.
